Lydia Blackwell, MA
Resident in Counseling
Lydia holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family counseling from East Tennessee State University. Lydia is a resident therapist and is currently pursing licensure in Tennessee.

Lydia enjoys working with individuals, couples & families, but has a special passion for marital/couples therapy. Lydia believes therapy is not a one size fits all process and that each client is unique in which therapy techniques will fit best with their individual situation.  Lydia’s philosophy on counseling is that people are the experts in their own lives and that a counselor acts as a facilitator to help people get from where they are at, to where they want to be.

Lydia integrates counseling methods for individuals including techniques from narrative therapy, Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and play therapy among others. For couples and families Lydia utilizes a variety of techniques from Imago Relationship Therapy, internal family systems (IFS), emotionally focused therapy and Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST).  Lydia is open to using spirituality in the counseling process upon request.
